Jorge Sanchez
Exhibition Intern
Jorge Sanchez (he/him) is a Library Specialist at the Winter Park Library, where he develops and teaches a wide range of technology and educational programs for patrons of all ages. Were you to pop your head into the library on any given day, you’ll find him guiding older adults through the basics of smartphones, teaching kids how to write their first lines of Python or Swift code, or leading workshops on emerging tools like 3D printing and Virtual Reality.
With a strong background in nonprofit management and public administration, Jorge worked towards a dual bachelors while at the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Information at Florida State University. Born in Venezuela and raised in Miami, Jorge now resides in Orlando, where he combines his background in community service and education with his commitment to inclusive, accessible programming.
As PTLP's Exhibition Intern (Sept. 2025 - May 2026), is designing a traveling exhibition that tells the dynamic history of the pink triangle, from its origins as a Nazi concentration camp badge to its reclamation as a global rallying cry for LGBTQ+ rights.
"The mission of the Pink Triangle Legacies Project, to me," says Jorge, "is an exercise rooted in both remembrance and resistance. The work this organization does highlights the importance of keeping the flame of memory and resistance alive through education, programming, and exhibit work. As attacks on queer and trans individuals ramp up around the world, I feel that an organization such as this is fit to meet the moment, making a lasting impact on the public conscience. On a personal level, my own exhibit work around the legacy of the pink triangle gave me insight into how powerful of a symbol the pink triangle is, and working to push that learning and insight all over the country with the Pink Triangle Legacies Project means contributing to a movement that insists on our shared history."
