Danny Bean

Summer 2025 Intern

Danny Bean (any and all pronouns) is an award-winning student, leader, (grant) writer, researcher, and community servant. They have displayed an immense ability to juggle a busy schedule with academic, professional, and extra-curricular duties. A first-generation college student, they took full advantage of their liberal arts experience during their undergraduate education at Wittenberg University, culminating in their B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy. They graduated summa cum laude with university honors and departmental honors in Philosophy. Having fallen in love with the college experience, they are now pursuing their M.S.E. in Higher Education and Student Affairs at the University of Dayton, in addition to furthering their dedication to community service in their graduate assistantship with the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community. They are excited at the prospect of pursuing their Ph.D. in either Philosophy or English. They are currently in the throes of a Survivor obsession.

For their internship with the Pink Triangle Legacies Project (May - August 2025), Danny is researching and producing a profile resource kit on Pierre Seel to be added to our LGBTQ+ Stories from Nazi Germany initiative. They will also use their digital talents and attention to detail to organize and mange our digital asset database.

Speaking on their internship with the Pink Triangle Legacies Project, Danny says, "It is a way for me to become better connected to queer history and the queer community, as I have been consistently searching for ways to become more ingrained in queer activism. PTLP offers me the opportunity to do exactly that while also producing research on important historical figures. I was motivated to get involved with PTLP after learning about it from my supervisor at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the focus on providing education aligns well with my Master’s degree in higher education. The ability to work with Dr. Jake Desai-Newsome, a truly prolific change maker, also drew me to this internship. I am excited to begin my journey of honoring the memory of queer activism."
